An exhibition that reinterprets the Eight Ancient Arts of China (琴棋书画诗酒花茶) through contemporary artistic practices. The identity needed to acknowledge Chinese cultural heritage while remaining accessible to broad audiences and flexible enough to unify a diverse range of artists, mediums and interpretations.
We designed one centred on an elegant typographic system inspired by the exhibition's title, using rhythm, spacing and directional movement to evoke the continuous flow of cultural knowledge across generations. This restrained approach provided a neutral framework that allowed the artworks themselves to remain the focus while gently alluding to their cultural origins.

Rather than relying on overt cultural motifs, the identity communicates heritage through subtle visual cues. By treating tradition as something living and evolving — not static or ornamental — the exhibition feels more inclusive and invite audiences of all backgrounds to engage with its themes.
The resulting visual system was designed to be highly adaptable across print, digital and spatial applications. Its sense of movement translated naturally into motion graphics, key visuals, exhibition graphics and wayfinding, creating a cohesive identity throughout the visitor experience.
